Massage
“Work with the hands is the apprenticeship of honesty. May the work of your hands be a sign of gratitude and reverence of the human condition”. - Ghandi
There are many types of massage and myofascial therapies. Some of which are:
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage uses pressure according to the depth of tension within the muscle. The practitioner often applies deep, steady strokes to soften congested muscles where metabolic chemicals may have accumulated.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release utilizes pressure applied at the tendon-muscle junction to relax and expand the fascia, a dense connective tissue that surrounds all muscle bundles. This allows muscles to be releases from the tension holding patterns that cause pain.
Lomi Lomi
Lomi Lomi means “loving Hands” in Hawaiian. It incorporates lots of connecting strokes, rhythm, range of motion, and pressure points.
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage uses long, connecting strokes, friction, tapping (tapotement) and other techniques for relaxation and release of tension.
