Electric Muscle Stimulation
Electric Muscle Stimulation is a combination of electrical patterns that may be selected depending on the patient’s discomfort. Biphasic electrical stimulation superimposes a contraction – relaxation pattern on spastic muscles causing them to relax. Interferential muscle stimulation treats trigger points and neuropathic pain, reducing the pain signals sent to the brain. Electrical stimulation can strengthen atrophied muscles from stroke or injury. Bipolar muscle stimulation is used in “Constitutional Hydrotherapy” for immune system stimulation.
